Water is a fundamental part of our survival. It's second only to oxygen as essential for life.

Water is the most important detoxifier. It assists in cleaning ourselves through skin and kidneys. It also improves our sweating with exercise. So it is recommended to drink at least eight glasses of water a day.

Though water is the best thing to drink but there are still some fluid replacement which come from sources other than pure water, such as eating foods that have a high water content, and from drinks such as green tea, grape and orange juice and sugar-free lemonade and limeade.

However, it is suggested to avoid all processed beverages containing some type of added sugar like high-fructose corn syrup. Also, grapefruit juice should be avoided as it tends to increase the potency of many prescribed drugs by reducing the efficiency of your liver's detoxification system by about 30%.

Below are some examples of healthy beverages:

Green Tea
It decreases the risk of cancer incidence. Also, other herbs and spices (cinnamon, sprigs of fresh rosemary or oregano) can be added to the cooking water for the tea.

Orange Juice
Daily consumption of 750 ml orange juice helps increase HDL (High Density Lipoprotein) cholesterol concentrations by 21%.

Purple or Red Grape Juice
It helps reduce the susceptibility of LDL (Low Density Lipoprotein) cholesterol to oxidation.

Lemonade
It contains citrus falconoid and Vitamin C.

Limeade
It contains citrus falconoid and Vitamin C.
